AccorHotels has opened a new Mercure property next to the new Shanghai Disney Resort.
The former Pudong International Talent City Hotel Shanghai has now been rebranded and relaunched as the Mercure Shanghai Zhangjiang. Located adjacent to mainland China first Disneyland and the Shanghai New International Expo Center, it becomes the Mercure brand’s third property in Shanghai.
The hotel has 283 rooms including a Disney-themed family suite, and there is also a free shuttle bus to transfer guests to and from the theme park. Other facilities include two restaurants and seven meeting rooms.
Sun Wu, executive vice president & CEO of upscale brands at Huazhu Hotels Group, AccorHotels’ Chinese partner, commented; “Shanghai has become the main market for Huazhu’s expansion into the mid- and upscale hotel market. Among the more than 30 Mercure projects for which the company has signed contracts, 10 are located in Shanghai.
“The company plans to establish a steady presence in several first- and second-tier cities, then move into a second stage of growth by expanding into third-tier cities.”
This opening follows the recent launch of multiple new AccorHotels properties at Wanda’s two new theme parks in China. These included new Mercure hotels in Hefei and Nanchang.
