Merlin Entertainments has announced it will open a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Turkey next year.
The attraction operator has signed an agreement to open the new centre at Turkey’s largest shopping and leisure centre Forum Istanbul.
It will be located close to the company’s Turkuazoo Aquarium which Merlin acquired last September.
The Discovery Centre is due to open in spring 2015 with a ride, 4D cinema, workshops and play areas.
“When we acquired Turkuazoo last year we said that we had identified Istanbul as an exciting, vibrant, and populous City in which we were looking to build a cluster of our attractions – and this is the first step,” said Glenn Earlam, managing director of Merlin Entertainment’s Midway Attractions Operating Group. “We have also already begun our programme of very positive changes in the aquarium which will continue this summer, and our experience of working with the great team at Turkuazoo has convinced us even more of the potential in Istanbul for quality attractions such as ours.”
Forum Istanbul has 27 million visitors a year.
