Microsoft and Lufthansa Systems will showcase their latest in-flight technology at the Singapore Airshow today (Tuesday 11 February 2014).
The two companies will use the event to demonstrate the new BoardConnect app for Windows 8, which allows airlines to expand their in-flight entertainment offerings.
The solution enables passengers to watch movies and TV, order food, shop and find information about their destinations from their IFE system.
“We are making BoardConnect available on Windows 8 to give passengers even more choices to use the platform,” said Norbert Muller, senior vice president of BoardConnect at Lufthansa Systems. “This makes it easy for airlines to give their passengers a superior in-flight entertainment experience.”
In addition to the passenger app, Microsoft and Lufthansa Systems are working on new electronic flight bags for pilots and customer service and point-of-sale devices for flight attendants.
