Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group has announced the latest stage of its expansion in Africa, with the signing of an agreement to add six Kenyan safari camps to its portfolio.
The company’s Elewana Collection has acquired Cheli & Peacock Group, which operates the six properties. The Elsa’s Kopje, Elephant Pepper Camp, Joy’s Camp, Tortillis Camp, Kitich Camp and Lewa Safari Camp will now join the Elewana Collection to form a circuit of 14 properties in northern Tanzania, Kenya and Zanzibar.
“The addition of the six Cheli & Peacock camps to the Elewana Collection represents a really exciting development in Kenya for Minor Hotel Group and our partners,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Minor’s CEO.
“The expanded Elewana Collection now offers a portfolio of 14 camps, lodges and boutique beach hotels in Kenya, Tanzania and the island of Zanzibar, providing unparalleled African wildlife-viewing and beach holiday opportunities with an emphasis on stylish and luxurious comfort.”
Tortilis Camp in Amboseli overlooks Mount Kilimanjaro, while Elephant Pepper Camp is located in the protected Mara North Conservancy. Elsa’s Kopje offers views of the Meru National Park, while Joy’s Camp is located in Shaba National Reserve and Lewa Safari Camp is in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with views of Mount Kenya. Finally, the Kitich Camp is located in the Matthews Forest.
The addition of these six camps to the Elewana Collection comes less than two weeks after Minor signed its first Anantara resorts in North Africa, which will open in Tunisia and Morocco in 2017.
The company also operates Elewana properties in Tanzania and Kenya, Anantaras in Mozambique and Zambia, Avani hotels in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia and Lesotho, and will soon launch the Essque Zalu Zanzibar.
