Mission Hills opens huge new tourism complex in Hainan

Mission Hills China has opened a major new tourism and leisure complex on Hainan Island.

The new Mission Hills Centreville Haikou officially launched on 1 February 2016, following an investment of CNY10 billion (US$1.6bn). The 240,000m² complex is divided into four zones – Lan Kwai Fong Entertainment Zone, Quarry Lake, Fashion Avenue and China Grove – offering a variety of retail, dining, entertainment and leisure options.

“We envision Mission Hills Centreville Haikou to be a bustling lifestyle hub in the city, offering an abundance of leisure activities and entertainment options to local residents and travellers from all corners of the world,” said Dr Ken Chu, chairman & CEO of Mission Hills Group. “The opening of this development marks an important milestone towards making Haikou a world-class tropical destination and putting the fast-growing city on the world map.”

Lan Kwai Fong Entertainment Zone will include a selection of restaurants, nightclubs and bars, including Birdcage Restaurant & Wine and California Restaurant Bar, while Quarry Lake transforms from a daytime park into a venue for live events at night, including a major water fountain show.

Fashion Avenue will be jointly run by Hainan Provincial Duty Free Company and DFS Group, offering 46,800m² of retail space, and China Grove features a large cinema complex, other multi-media entertainment options and Hainan’s first teddy bear museum.

And Mission Hills Centreville Haikou will be expanded later this year with the opening of a 50,000m² Wet’n’Wild water park and three international hotels, managed by Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance and Hard Rock.

The new complex forms part of the huge Mission Hill Haikou development, which also includes 10 championship golf courses, hotels, a hot spring complex and China’s first movie town. It is located just 15 minutes’ drive from Haikou’s Meilan International Airport.
