MoCA asks Air India to create domestic plan

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has asked Air India to submit a plan to enhance its share in the domestic passenger market. The detailed plan has to include month-wise targets of market share along with corresponding strategy to achieve these targets for the next one year.
Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh emphasised that a number of efforts have to be made by Air India to regain its number on position in terms of market share. He has asked the national carrier to come out with innovative and customer focused strategies to achieve optimum utilisation of the fleet.
According to the passenger traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines, total number of passengers carried between the month of January-August 2012 were 398.21 lakh as compared to 396.31 lakh during the same period in 2011. Last month, a total of 43.69 lakh domestic passengers travelled on scheduled domestic carriers.
