More tourist areas open in Ladakh

Jammu and Kashmir has opened new areas for tourism in Leh Ladakh.
Announced at the State Assembly on 1 March by the state’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said that nationals from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar will require taking permission from the Home Ministry to visit the destination.
As per the notification, permits from the District Magistrate of either Leh or Kargil will be required for foreign tourists travelling in a group of two or more. The tourist should also be sponsored by recognised tour operator while the tour must also not be more than seven days.
The new areas open to foreign tourists include Karu –Chang; La-Durbuk-Tangtse-Lukung-Spannik-Man-Merak in Pangong Tso (Pangong Lake) area; Leh-Upshi-Chumathang-Mahe-Loma, Leh-Khardung-La-Khalser-Hunder-Turtuk-Pachathang Tyakshi in Nubra Valley; Kargil—Khangral-Shaker-Chiktan-Leh, and Dah-Garkone-Darchik-Batalik-Slimo-Kargil.
