Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Tourist Transporters Association in New Delhi, Parvez Dewan, Secretary at MoT made clear that the ministry is not asking for the taxes to be reduced, but what was required was rationalization of the multi tax structure and removal of barriers along with highways which hindered smooth flow of traffic. “India is one country and there is should be no reason for the hurdles in travel. Collecting tax online or at one consolidated place should be a good idea to work upon,” Dewan stressed.

The Road Transport Ministry has also been requested to introduce special number plates for tourist taxis.
