Mövenpick has launched its first ever hotel in Pakistan.

The Swiss hotelier has taken over the management of the former Sheraton in Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, and has now relaunched it as the Mövenpick Hotel Karachi.

“This hotel has always played an important role in Karachi society and enjoys a special place in the hearts of many Pakistani people,” said Jean Gabriel Pérès, president & chief executive officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. “We are looking forward to building on this wonderful legacy with our international experience and unique Swiss sense of hospitality.”

The 407-room hotel is located on the coastal city’s main Club Road, and features a range of facilities including a three restaurants, a heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre and a tennis court. There are also 16 meeting rooms and a main ballroom capable of holding up to 1,000 delegates.

Mövenpick will now undertake a major refurbishment of the hotel’s lobby, restaurants and guest rooms in 2014.
