Movenpick Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to expand its Asia Pacific portfolio with the launch of at least seven new hotels over the coming years.

The Swiss hotel group currently operates eight properties in the region, in China, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. The latest of these hotels, the Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok, officially launched this week, marking the company’s debut in the Thai capital.

And speaking at the Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference 2015 in Bangkok, Movenpick’s chief operating officer for the Middle East and Asia, Andreas Mattmuller, said his company will continue to expand in the region in the coming years, including the opening of its first properties in India, Indonesia and Malaysia. Movenpick is also negotiating on additional 10 projects, he added.
