MSC Cruises has renewed its partnership with UNICEF to generate more funds for the charity.
The cruise line’s guests have already donated more than EUR2.8 million to the charity in the last four years, with the ‘Get on Board for Children’ initiative now set to continue.
Money from the donations has been used to provide education to children in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, with its new partnership to offer food to malnourished children in developing countries or those in a crisis situation.
A EUR1 donation can buy three meals through sachets of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food.
“Around three sachets a day for four to six weeks can put a child out of harm’s way and with the generosity of our on board guests we will do our best to save and improve as many lives as possible,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “MSC Cruises believes that global leadership brings increased responsibility towards the physical and human environments in which it operates, and as such we are proud to have strengthened our partnership with UNICEF. Together, we can make a difference”.
MSC has also organised activities for children onboard its ships to raise awareness of UNICEF’s work.
