MSC Cruises has announced a near EUR200m programme to upgrade its four Lirica-class ships.
Under the agreement with shipyard Fincantieri, the ships will have nearly 200 cabins per ship added as well as new water features and cannons and shopping boutiques.
MSC Armonia will be the first ship to go into a drydock period from 31 August to 17 November 2014, followed by MSC Sinfonia on 12 January-16 March 2015.
MSC Opera will then go through the changes from 2 May-4 July 2015 then MSC Lirica will enter drydock from 31 August to 9 November 2015.
“When our four Lirica class ships return to the seas after a total of 38 weeks in dry dock, they will be entirely new ships with additional amenities and comfort for our travellers, allowing them to reach sophisticated and refined destinations around the world. The extensive “renaissance programme” represents a huge investment, and reaffirms, once again, our company’s dedication to high standards, cutting-edge technology and continuous product innovation,” said MSC’s CEO Gianni Onorato.
