Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is all set to launch the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030. The ceremony was held at the Katara Cultural Village and attended by secretary general of the UNWTO, Dr Taleb Rifai, key dignitaries, stakeholders from both public and the private sector.

The Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 was developed following a nation-wide consultative process. The strategy is an integrated effort to advance Qatar’s tourism sector and to ensure the country’s sustainable development, in line with objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

With numerous economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefits, the Strategy defines ambitious targets that Qatar is working on achieving by 2030 and lays out the plans, programs, projects, and policies that will help in achieving them.

The launch of the QNTSS 2030 will serve as the roadmap of QTA ‘s mission to lead the maturation of the tourism industry through planning, regulating and promoting prosperous and sustainable tourism in Qatar.

In line with the roll out of the strategy, QTA and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) launched a media campaign. The campaign invites commercial businesses and members of private sector to the Qatar Tourism Investment Opportunities event. This event looks to support the country’s goal, as part of the National Tourism Sector Strategy.

His Excellency Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, chairman of QTA, said: “Tourism is a growing pillar of the expanding Qatari economy. QTA is leading the maturation and the development of a sustainable tourism sector, which includes increased private sector involvement, via its high-impact programs. This is an initiative to showcase to potential private sector investors – entrepreneurs, SMEs and corporations – the potential this rapidly growing sector offers.”

The six projects will be the first phase of a series of investment opportunities and relate to dhow cruises; luxury coaches; 4×4 leasing; a cottage market; Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE) Destination Management Company (DMC); and integrated ticking and mobile information centres. A procurement process will begin following the Qatar tourism Investment Opportunities event to select a suitable developer for each project.
