Yao Ming, the Chinese NBA star, has opened a hospitality centre at his vineyard in California’s Napa Valley.
Yao Family Wines launched its first vintage in 2011 and will now offer tasting sessions at the new centre, which is located in the town of St Helena.
The centre features a large marble-topped oval bar and lounge spaces for groups and private tastings. Photographs and images from Ming’s basketball career and humanitarian efforts line the walls. There is also a private club lounge and outdoor patios shaded by olive trees.
“We are very excited to open the doors at our new home in St Helena. We look forward to welcoming fans of our wines, and introducing ourselves to new friends as well,” said Yao Ming. “Our hospitality centre is warm and welcoming, and allows us to share our wines with visitors from all over the world.”
Born in Shanghai, Yao Ming spent eight seasons with the Houston Rockets. He established Yao Family Wines in 2009.
