Riyadh has nearly 8000 rooms in its hotel pipeline, according to figures released by STR Global.
The Saudi capital has the largest expected hotel room supply growth at 103.2%, with 7,990 rooms in the kingdom’s total active pipeline.
The latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer stated that Saudi Arabia witnessed a 14% growth in tourism last year, the fifth best performer globally.
Four other countries in the region reported expected room growth of more than 20% including Jeddah (63.6% with 3,798 rooms); Muscat (42% with 1,992 rooms); Abu Dhabi (38% to 7,189); and Dubai (26.3% with 16,588).
