A new airline has taken to the skies in southern India.
Air Pegasus launched its first flights from Bengaluru‘s Kempegowda International Airport on 12 April 2015, and will initially offer connections to the cities of Hubli, in Karnataka state, and Thiruvananthapuram, in Kerala, using a fleet of two 66-seat ATR turboprop aircraft.
And the airline’s managing director, Shyson Thomas, told reporters at the launch that he plans to expand to a number of new destinations across southern India.
“We aim to be the truly regional airline brand with more connectivity in existing regions which are undeserved and to connect non-connected sectors,” Thomas was quoted saying by the Press Trust of India.
Future destinations for Air Pegasus are likely to include Kochi, Chennai, Tuticorin, Belgaum and Rajahmundry, Pondicherry and Madurai.
Air Pegasus becomes the third new airline to launch in India in the last 12 months, following AirAsia India and Vistara.
