New airport to be built in Karnataka

A new airport will be developed in the city of Kalaburgi, Karnataka.
The Economic Times reports that the new hub will be developed by the Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) at a cost of INR1.09 billion (US$16 million).
This will include the creation of a passenger terminal building and all other necessary facilities, with work due to be completed in three phases. The first phase will be completed by March 2018.
In 2014, the Indian government announced plans to construct 200 new airports across the country over the next 20 years, mainly in tier two and three cities.
