New Boeing 747-8 to make Asian debut
The brand new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental will fly to Asia for the first time next month.
Lufthansa, the launch customer of the new aircraft, will commence daily B747-8 flights from Frankfurt to Delhi from 6 August 2012, replacing its existing B747-400 service. Delhi will become Lufthansa’s second B747-8 destination, following the launch of services to Washington DC in June. The airline expects to take delivery to two more B747-8s in 2012, one of which will fly to Bengaluru.
The new aircraft offers 362 seats – eight in first class, 92 in Lufthansa’s brand new business class and 262 in economy. This marks a 10% capacity increase compared to the old 330-seat B747-400.
Lufthansa has ordered a total of 20 Boeing 747-8s.
