Another new Chinese airline will take to the skies this October.
Jiangxi Airlines, which is 60% owned by Xiamen Airlines, will operate as a low-cost carrier from its base in Nanchang, the capital of southeast China’s Jiangxi province.
The airline will initially operate a fleet of single-aisle Boeing 737 aircraft on domestic routes from Nanchang’s Changbei International Airport.
Jiangxi Airlines will become the third all-new LCC to launch in China, following Shanghai-based Spring Airlines and 9 Air, which recently started operating from Guangzhou. Other former full-service carriers, including Chongqing‘s West Air and Beijing-based China United Airlines, have recently moved to the low-cost business model.
