New five-star hotel opens at PortAventura

PortAventura Resort has made a move into the luxury market with a new five-star hotel.
The Spanish resort has based new hotel Mansión de Lucy on Far West US mansions with a 19th century feel. It has 28 rooms and two suites with express premium wristband access to the theme park.
The new hotel will open on 2 April two weeks into the start of the resort’s 2015 season.
The new hotel is part of a EUR10 million expansion in accommodation with also includes an extended Hotel Gold River.
A themed 78-room Callaghan Building has been added with its own entrance and reception area, due to open on 1 June. Rooms are under the four-star deluxe category and also include the premium park access.
“The new five-star hotel Mansión de Lucy and the Callaghan Building expansion are part of a strong investment plan undertaken over the past five years. Already hosting 4 million visitors the plans will further develop the PortAventura Resort as a one-of-a-kind in Europe, with a high quality range of products and services,” said Sergio Feder, president of the executive committee at PortAventura. “The development of PortAventura Resort’s hotel range is part of our strategy to strengthen our international standing. The resort aims to become one of Europe’s best family leisure destinations.”
In the park itself new attractions have been formed through partnerships with Ferrari and Cirque du Soleil. Its summer season starts in late March.
