A new air route will open later this year connecting Bangkok with Harbin, the city in northeast China that hosts the annual Ice Festival.

Spring Airlines, the Shanghai-based low-cost carrier, will launch its inaugural Harbin-Bangkok service on 2 November. Flights will operate twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) using a 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.

Remarkably, this will mark Spring Airlines’ eighth connection to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, following its existing routes from Shanghai, Nanchang, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Shijiazhuang, Chengdu and Beihai.

The Harbin-Bangkok route is currently operated exclusively by Russian carrier Ural Airlines, with one weekly flight.

Home to more than five million people, Harbin is the capital of China’s Heilongjiang province.
