A new air route has opened connecting Bali with East Timor.
The Jakarta Post reports that the new Denpasar-Dili service will be operated by Citilink, Garuda Indonesia‘s low-cost carrier, in partnership with Air Timor. The route will initially operate three times a week using a Boeing 737 aircraft.
Citilink’s vice president of corporate communications, Benny Butarbutar, told the newspaper that the new route forms part of his airline’s strategy to “tap into unrealised markets”.
He added that Citilink could launch more international routes from Bali in the coming years, including possible new services to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Perth.
Another Indonesian airline, Sriwijaya Air, already flies from Bali to Dili.
