VFS Global has launched a new joint UK and Australia Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Bangkok.
The company, which is responsible for handling applications for UK and Australia visas from Thai nationals, opened the new facility on Sukhumvit Soi 13, in the centre of Bangkok.
The new centre uses biometric counters intended to speed up application processes and offers video conferencing booths to handle student interviews. It also features a ‘Premium lounge’, fast track and priority applications, plus courier and SMS services.
“The opening of the new Bangkok VAC today will allow Australia and the UK to build further our relationship in terms of immigration cooperation and demonstrates the value we place on collaboration between our countries,” said James Wise, Australia’s ambassador to Thailand.
“We want everyone who uses the Centre to be impressed by the efficiency of the service and be equally impressed by the respect with which they are treated here. We want them to go away from this centre saying, ‘Our application was handled efficiently and the staff were very helpful and very courteous at all times’,” the ambassador added.
Paul Bute, chargé d’affaires at the British Embassy in Thailand, said the new centre showed that the UK is “open for business”.
Sriram Narayan has been appointed as VFS Global’s chief operating officer for Australasia. “We are honoured to be associated with the governments of Australia & UK, and delighted to offer applicants from Bangkok a new Visa Application Centres with state-of-the-art facilities,” he said.
The centre will be open from 0830 to 1630 on week days.
