New Liverpool tours company launches

A new tour company has launched in Liverpool aiming to help get the city back into tour operators’ minds and brochures.
The firm, named Brilliant Liverpool Tours, has been founded by Blue Badge tour guides Neil McDonald and Claire Rider to help promote the tourism and hotel opportunities available in the city.
The company started with a Comedy Coach Tour with a comedian onboard last year and a Beatles Walk in October but has since arranged corporate packages and hen parties tailor-made to clients.
Now McDonald is aiming to get tour operators to visit the city with the company to find out more about its products and what the city has to offer.
“Liverpool has been in many brochures for some time but has not always been pitched properly so we are taking the opportunity to make more of an experience out of the city,” he told Travel Daily. “We are pleased with how it’s gone so far and we are pushing hard to do much more business.”
When the former White Star Line HQ opens as a hotel McDonald is keen to develop Titanic-themed breaks paired with a trip to Belfast where the ill-fated ship was built.
He is also keen to help coach companies and tour operators look at different hotel partners as Britannia Hotel’s Adelphi currently holds much of Liverpool’s coach tourists.
While the core part of the business will focus on tour operators and corporates McDonald will keep an eye on the cruise market as the city is expecting double the number of cruise calls next year than in 2014.
“Our enthusiasm, experience and contacts has helped us drive forward and we are really keen to host tour operators in Liverpool to show them around the city and what we can help to provide their customers,” McDonald said.
