Azamara Club Cruises has appointed Richard Twynam as its first managing director for the UK & Ireland.
Twynam will lead a team of 10 in the UK and has more than 20 years’ experience in travel including time at Air New Zealand, TUI UK, Virgin Holidays Cruises and Kuoni UK.
His team includes commercial director David Duff, previously commercial planning and analysis for RCL Criuises as well as a business analyst and air and inventory members.
Its three-strong sales team will include a trade marketing executive, the first time the cruise line has implemented a specific trade focus in the UK and Ireland.
“The UK and Ireland market continues to be one of the largest and most important for Azamara Club Cruises and is going from strength to strength. We are excited to welcome Richard Twynam to lead this evolution as we continue to grow and invest in our business in the UK. Now is a really exciting time for the business as the expansion continues,” said Larry Pimentel, president and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises.
Twynam’s appointment comes after RCL Cruises decided to split its business structure under the three different brands. From 1 January 2014 the companies will operate as three separate business with Twynam working closely with Royal Caribbean International’s UK & Ireland managing director Stuart Leven and Celebrity Cruises’ managing director Jo Rzymowska.
