Morocco’s main leisure tourism destination, Marrakech, is now able to attract even more international visitors following the opening of an eye-catching new terminal at the city’s Menara Airport.

Launched this month, in time to welcome visitors for the COP22 summit, the new terminal doubles the airport’s capacity to nine million passengers per year. Designed by renowned architect Abdou Lahlou and covering a total area of 67,000m², the terminal is built over three levels. It includes separate areas for long- and medium/short-haul flights, plus the brand new Oasis Lounge.

The project also saw the refurbishment of the airport’s existing terminal, as well as the improvement of the general facilities, retail and F&B offerings.

Marrakech Menara Airport is Morocco’s second busiest airport after Casablanca, and its expansion forms part of the government’s plan to increase annual international visitor arrivals to 20 million by 2020.‎
