A new travel search website has been launched that allows skiers and snowboarders to compare the world’s ski resorts.
Snowcomparison.com has been created by Australian former professional skier and entrepreneur, David Freuden. His aim is to allow winter sports enthusiasts to search for a ski resort that suits their needs, in terms of facilities, accommodation and budget. The site already features has 2,400 resorts in 56 countries with more being added regularly.
Speaking of the inspiration behind Snowcomparison.com, Freuden said; “I was in Prague late last year and wanted to ski some of the intrepid eastern and central European resorts but I could only speak English.
“So when a local did give me recommendations I was unable to pronounce, remember or spell the resort name. I realised what I wanted was a search engine that allowed me to find the resort right for my style of skiing in a geographical location I would be in. Thus Snowcomparison.com was born.”
The site’s search options allow results to be viewed as standalone resorts, or to be compared with other resorts. The site’s accommodation booking system is powered by the Priceline Group, ensuring an extensive array of hotel and resort options.
Freuden knows his stuff; born to one of the founding members of the Thredbo Ski Patrol, he has spent his life on snow and went on to become a professional skier and a co-owner of Skeena Heli Skiing, before selling his share of the start-up in 2014.
