Holiday Inn is to launch a hotel in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir.
The 161-room hotel will be the brand’s 16th in the country but parent company InterContinental Hotel Group’s first in the city.
Due to open in 2015, facilities will include a gym, spa, bar, restaurant, five meeting rooms and a banqueting area. The ground-floor café currently in place will remain due to its popularity with locals since 1980.
“We’re very excited to be opening our first hotel in Diyarbakir which is a key city for our growth plans in Turkey. The Holiday Inn brand continues to gain momentum across Europe as owners are increasingly taking advantage of development opportunities in expanding business regions that lie beyond a country’s capital,” said Yalin Yaltirakli, IHG’s development director for Turkey.
