New Zealand is aiming to drive more business events travel from Thailand, with a new joint initiative from Tourism New Zealand and Immigration New Zealand.
Through the scheme, which was launched in Bangkok this week, Tourism New Zealand and Immigration New Zealand have partnered with three Thai travel agencies, with the aim of easing the visa application process for their business events clients.
Visa processing will be reduced to three days and clients will no longer be required to provide evidence of funds and employment.
“We have selected agents based on their ability to bring high value visitors to New Zealand. We’re seeing increasing interest from the Business Events sector out of Thailand and look forward to being able to grow this more rapidly as a result of this agreement,” said Tourism New Zealand’s regional manager, Nick Mudge.
The move forms part of New Zealand’s strategy to attract more high-value conference and incentive visitors, which coincides with the planned opening of three new conference venues in the country by 2018.
