Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) has continued its Asia Pacific expansion with the opening of its first office in Hong Kong.

The office will handle all three of NCL’s cruise brands: Norwegian Cruise Lines, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Sea Cruises.

Coinciding with the opening of the office, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Voyager ship arrived in Hong Kong this week as part of its North Asian sailing, which commenced in Tokyo and will end in Beijing later this month.
And in December 2016, Norwegian Cruise Lines will launch its first Asian cruises since 2002, when the Norwegian Star homeports in the region for the winter 2016-17 season.

The new Hong Kong office will be led by Steve Odell, the former Silversea executive who now becomes NCL’s senior vice president & managing director. He will be assisted by vice president of sales Felix Chan, senior director of sales Winnie Chan, and vice president of marketing Dorothy Mak.

“Asia is an increasingly important market for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, with cruise tourism in the region growing at double-digit rates, demand increasing from both cruise passengers from Hong Kong and the rest of Asia, and international travellers seeking to experience Asian destinations,” said Odell.

“With this new office, we will be able to better support our travel partners, forge new mutually-beneficially partnerships, and provide our valued Hong Kong guests a range of enhanced services, for passengers seeking cruise holiday experiences across the spectrum – from contemporary to luxury and short sailings to world voyages,”

NCL will introduce five new ships across its three brands over the next three years, including Norwegian Joy, the company’s first ship designed specifically for the Chinese market. Others include Norwegian Escape, Oceania Cruises’ Sirena and Regent Seven Seas’ Seven Seas Explorer.

The company also recently unveiled a new name and logo for its mainland Chinese operations, and a Chinese name for Norwegian Joy.

Across its three brands, NCL will operate 45 Asian itineraries from March 2016 to April 2017, including port calls in Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China, South Korea, Japan, India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
