Norwegian Spirit emerges post USD 100-million revitalisation
Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its updated cruise ship, Norwegian Spirit, following a USD 100-million overhaul as part of The Norwegian Edge programme. The ship emerged from a 43-day dry dock in Marseille, France to arrive at Civitavecchia, Italy, boasting 14 new venues, additional and updated staterooms, enhanced public areas and new hull art.
It will sail on a series of immersive 17-, 20- and 28-day expeditions spanning three continents. It departed from Civitavecchia, Italy on 14 February. It will depart from Dubai, UAE on 2 March; and Cape Town, South Africa on 22 March before homeporting in Athens (Piraeus) in Greece for the first time on 19 April.
Norwegian Spirit’s enhancements include a doubled-in-size Mandara Spa, complete with a new thermal suite and relaxation area; an expanded fitness centre; and the second Onda by Scarpetta restaurant at sea.
Harry Sommer, president and CEO of the cruise line said: “It is truly exciting to celebrate Norwegian Spirit’s sail out of dry dock to incredible destinations following her significant renovation. Europe is the number one destination for international arrivals, and we are very proud to position it for the first post-dry-dock season in this high-demand region.”
