A One&Only Resorts-branded hotel is to open in Australia next year.

The brand’s parent company Kerzner International Holdings has signed a management contract for the Hayman Great Barrier Reef, Australia with owners Mulpha Australia.

The resort is to now under-go a multi-million dollar renovation and will relaunch as the One&Only Hayman Island in April 2014. It will be the brand’s first resort in Australia.

“Hayman has long been acclaimed as an iconic Australian resort and Kerzner is the perfect partner to herald in a new era for the resort under their One&Only brand,” said Mulpha Australia’s executive chairman Seng Huang Lee. “The transformational refurbishment combined with One&Only’s innovation and commitment to delivering an extraordinary level of service will redefine resort luxury in Australia.”

Under its renovation plans the resort will redevelop its Pool Wing to include new all-suite suites with one or two rooms. New Hayman rooms and Hayman suites with ocean and lagoon views will have new interiors and amenities, while its beach villas and penthouses will be updated. The pool area will be upgraded with cabanas and day beds.

Facilities will include a spa, diving and marine biology programmes and kids clubs.

Hayman is located on the most northern point of the Whitsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Queensland.
