I last spoke about Naumi Auckland Airport back in January when the Singapore-based hotel group announced the location as its first property in Australasia (quickly followed by two further properties in Wellington). And now the airport design hotel has piqued my interest again by releasing details of its self-styled ‘one-of-a-kind meetings and events spaces’.

Found inside the Auckland Airport precinct, the hotel is, as you would have guessed, just a few minutes from both the domestic and international terminals, pretty much ideal for international MICE based activities where convenience is a factor and delegates need to jet in and zoom out.

With 500sqm of meeting space, Naumi Auckland Airport may not be the biggest MICE space in town (that honour goes to the 1,400 sqm of the Grand Millennium Auckland) however, the stylish range of adaptable, indoor and outdoor, areas offer a refreshing alternative to traditional MICE setups.

With names like Razzle-Dazzle, Oomph and Zing, each room can be dressed up for business and more formal events or reworked for more relaxed or casual get-togethers.

Razzle-Dazzle

Razzle-Dazzle (above) features 170sqm of meeting space (maximum capacity of 230) combines 6-metre ceilings with large doors to create the hotel’s largest function room; or it can be divided in half to create two separate halls — perfect for hosting side-by-side events.

Wink

Wink is Naumi’s ‘unique angled space’ comprised of 85sqm of meeting space with room enough for 60 eventers and can easily be adapted into six different arrangements (Theatre, Classroom, Cabaret Banquet, Cocktail, Boardroom and U-shaped). The large windows flood the space with natural light and provide views of the hotels swimming pool and marquee.

Oomph

This multi-purpose 80sqm venue is described by Naumi as ‘ideal for presentations or private dinners and cocktail events’. Like Wink, it can either be drenched in sunlight or dipped in total darkness with heavy felt curtains creating the optimal environment for screening videos and giving presentations.

Zing

At 65sqm and a maximum capacity of 25 guests, this lounge-like setting is aimed at executive meetings and corporate events. Zing comes with its own kitchen too – not to mention the double patio which leads onto the pool garden, providing easy access sustenance and fresh air – essential to keeping guests energised during long sessions.

Naumi Auckland Zest

Zest

At 60 sqm with a height of 2.5m, this upstairs oasis (maximum capacity 40) is a great spot for private events or break-out sessions on bean bags. Guests can bask in natural daylight or pull the blackout curtains for presentations on 75” Smart TVs and a maximum capacity of 40 guests cocktail style.

All in all, these new spaces are a great addition to the MICE infrastructure of Auckland. And only add to the overall appeal of the hotel which already houses 193 rooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool and pleasure gardens.

Rates at Naumi Auckland Airport start from NZ$350 (approx. £178) based on two adults sharing a Habitat Room on a room-only basis.
