Hong Kong’s Ovolo Hotels has established a new international headquarters in Australia.
The new Melbourne office forms part of a major Australian expansion effort for the company, which earlier this year acquired three more properties Down Under. These added to its first Australian property, Ovolo Laneways, which opened in Melbourne two years ago.
“Ovolo Hotels has found a home in Melbourne,” said Ovolo’s chief operating officer, Dirk Dalichau. “Now we will get to work growing our business and contributing to Melbourne’s buzzing tourism sector.”
Ovolo now owns four properties in Australia – Ovolo Laneways and the former Oaks on Lonsdale hotel in Melbourne, and the Hotel 1888 and Blue Hotel in Sydney.
And the group said it is now “exploring more investment opportunities in other major urban centres in Australia, as well as international markets further afield”.
Ovolo properties offer a range of guest-friendly amenities, including free breakfast, minibar items and Wi-Fi, plus self-service laundry facilities and flexible check out times.
In addition to the Australian hotels, Ovolo also operates five properties in Hong Kong, including the recently-opened Ovolo Southside, which has become a member of Design Hotels.
