Pandaw has unveiled plans to launch a new riverboat on the upper reaches of the Mekong River.
The Yunnan Pandaw will make its debut in September 20126, operating 14-might cruises along the Mekong between Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and Jinghong, in southwest China’s Yunnan province.
The sister ship to the existing Laos Pandaw, Yunnan Pandaw will offer 14 teak cabins, all with French sliding doors offering views of the river and passing scenery. Onboard facilities will include an open air observation deck, an air-conditioned dining room with indoor and outdoor seating, a bar and a bakery.
“We are very excited about the addition of the Yunnan Pandaw to our fleet, which we are building in response to demand. The journey from Vientiane to Jinghong is only possible with Pandaw and is one of the most memorable,” said Pandaw’s founder, Paul Strachan.
“Travelling through lush jungle and friendly village communities where elephants can often be seen from the ship. In China, we visit the impressive Menglun Botanical Garden, discover Chinese tea plantations and meet some of China’s minority communities that live in Yunnan province.”
Travellers will be able to combine the Upper Mekong cruise with Pandaw’s seven-night cruise along the lower reaches of the river between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap.
