Qatar Airways has placed an order for nine Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Speaking at a press conference in the opening day of the Paris Air Show, the Middle Eastern carrier’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker said the new B777s would allow Qatar Airways to launch new flights from its Doha hub to destinations in Australasia and the US. The order is worth US$2.8 billion at current list prices.
Doric Lease Corp has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 20 Airbus A380s. This marks the aircraft leasing company’s first direct order for the A380 and is worth almost US$8.1 billion at current list prices.
US-based SkyWest has signed a firm order for 100 Embraer E175-E2 aircraft, with options to double the order to 200. If all the orders are exercised, the deal is worth US$9.36 billion at list prices. This new contract is in addition to SkyWest’s previous order in May 2013 for up to 200 E175 aircraft.
Leasing firm GECAS has signed a deal for the Boeing 787-10X Dreamliner – the longest version of the aircraft. Subject to Boeing actually developing the B787-10X, the General Electric subsidiary will take delivery of 10 of the Dreamliners.
US-based aircraft leasing company, ILFC, has placed an order for 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft. With this order, ILFC increases its total order for the aircraft to 150, following a firm order for 100 A320neos placed in 2011.
Lufthansa has firmed up an order for 100 Airbus A320-series aircraft (35 A320neo, 35 A321neo and 30 standard A320 jets). The deal was first agreed in March, and will confirm the German carrier’s position as the largest Airbus operator in Europe, increasing its total A320 orders to 299.
Japan’s Skymark Airlines has announced its intention to purchase the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as it renews its single-aisle fleet. The carrier currently operates a fleet of 30 B737-800s, but expects to finalise the B737 MAX order in the coming weeks.
Embraer has sold 50 of its new E2 regional jets to IFLC. The aircraft leasing has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the purchase of 25 E190-E2 and 25 E195-E2 jets. The agreement also contains options for an additional 25 E190-E2s and 25 E195-E2s.
Bombardier has taken an order for 10 CS100 aircraft from UK-based Odyssey Airlines. The airline will operate the regional aircraft from its base at London City Airport, saying it wanted to connect “key city airports”. The CS100 is part of Bombardier’s new CSeries.
