Paris-Orly Airport is to be modernised under new plans announced by bosses today.
The French airport, owned by Aéroports de Paris, will cover six years and see its two terminals merge into a new international departure lounge with new terminal entrances.
By 2018 the airport will consist of one single terminal and three departure lounges with an emphasis on building services for passengers that spend longer in airports. This comes after the airport doubled its international routes in the last 12 years. Its additional services will include more security checkpoints and an additional baggage carousel, with its exteriors to be re-developed.
“This project is essential for both passengers and airlines operating at Paris-Orly Airport. We do not aim at increasing the handling capacity of the airport but rather at radically upgrading the quality of service for our passengers. At this stage, Aéroports de Paris will invest between EUR400-450m (GBP324-365m),” added the airport’s managing director Franck Mereyde.
