Park Hotel Group has continued its Asia Pacific expansion strategy with the signing of its first property in Malaysia.

The Singapore-based company, which last year opened its first resort in Indonesia and recently announced plans to enter Australia, has now taken its first step into Malaysia with the signing of a management agreement for a hotel in the historic port city of Melaka.

Scheduled to open in the first half of 2019, Park Hotel Melaka will form part of The Green, a new development in the city’s Kota Laksamana area that will also feature retail outlets, offices, serviced apartments and outdoor space.

The 16-storey upscale hotel will feature 245 rooms and suites, a restaurant, rooftop bar, swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre, business centre and meetings rooms.

“Global outbound travel is strongly driven by Asia Pacific and with Park Hotel Melaka, this partnership allows us to strengthen our presence in important markets such as Malaysia,” said Allen Law, CEO of Park Hotel Group.

“Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Melaka is a beautiful city with a wealth of history and unique blend of cultures and experiences to offer. Upcoming developments… are also set to transform the city, ushering significant investors and travellers to this part of Malaysia.”

Park Hotel Group currently operates 11 hotels in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China and Japan. Its first Australian property, Park Hotel Adelaide, is scheduled to open in 2018. Earlier this year, Park Hotel Farrer Park became the group’s fifth hotel in Singapore.
