Shearings has announced an investment of more than GBP10.5 million into its coach fleet as it continues to see a rise in passenger numbers and forward bookings.

The company will now take delivery of 38 new Setra coaches in the new year, having already received 30 new coaches earlier this year.

The group will also upgrade several of its hotels in 2014 to the tune of GBP5 million.

After seeing a record one million passengers last year the group is expected to see a 2-3% increase this year and has seen a 10% boost in forward bookings for 2014.

Top-sellers have been its UK and European Grand Tourer holidays as well as its value brand National Holidays.

“Our continuing focus on providing great value and exciting new holiday product across our programmes has kept our customers loyal and attracted thousands of new people to our portfolio of brands. Similarly our multi-brand strategy, and ability to serve the UK and overseas markets with short and long breaks with such a wide range of product, gives us an even bigger market to address across a demographic that continues to expand,” said Denis Wormwell, chief executive of Shearings Group.

“While conditions remain challenging, this has given us the confidence to continue our investment through 2013 and accelerate our commitment further next year, making sure we deliver ever greater quality to our growing customer base.”
