Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced that it will launch a new route to China this month.

Commencing on 29 March 2015, the national carrier will operate direct flights from Manila to Jinjiang (also known as Quanzhou), in southeast China’s Fujian province. The city is a major manufacturing centre for clothing and footwear industries, and the new route is expected to serve the rising number of migrant workers from the Philippines.

“A large number of Chinese Filipinos trace their roots to the city of Jinjiang. In response to the clamour for links to and from the Chinese city, the flag carrier is launching the new route,” said PAL’s president & chief operating Officer, Jaime Bautista.

“We hope to bring PAL’s unique Filipino style of warm, friendly, caring and hospitable service to our passengers on the new route.”

The Manila-Jinjiang route will be served three times a week, with departures every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Jinjiang will become PAL’s seventh destination in China, following Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Xiamen.
