Qatar Airways has enhanced its operations in the Philippines with the deployment of its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Clark International Airport.
The state-of-the-art long-haul jet touched down at the Luzon hub for the first time this week, where it was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute. This marks the first time that a Dreamliner has landed at Clark.
“The Boeing Dreamliner aircraft is one of the flagship aeroplanes in our fleet today and its introduction to Clark International Airport reaffirms our commitment to the Philippines market,” said Qatar Airways’ group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
“The Dreamliner has received very positive feedback in the cities we fly the aircraft to, and we hope our Philippines passengers will enjoy this technologically advanced aircraft.”
The B787-8 will now operate Qatar Airways’ daily Doha-Clark service. Passengers will be offered a choice of two cabins, with 22 flat-bed seats in a 1-2-1 configuration in business class and 232 seats in a 3-3-3 layout in economy class. The aircraft also features in-flight Wi-Fi.
Clark is one of three Qatar Airways destinations in the Philippines, along with Manila and Cebu.
“The arrival of Qatar Airways’… Dreamliner aircraft is a welcome development for Clark International Airport as we strive to develop ourselves into the next premier international gateway of the Philippines. We look forward to forging a stronger partnership with Qatar Airways who has been a strong supporter of CIAC for the past few years,” said Alexander Cauguiran, president of Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC).
