Postcards with love! Local celebs back Gold Coast tourism push with personal touch
A couple of local celebrities are getting on board with a Gold Coast tourism push, by penning personal postcards to other Aussies. The letters feature messages about what they like most about the Gold Coast, in the hopes of luring back visitors over the coming months.
Swim star Giaan Rooney and footballer Mat Rogers are just some of the names involved in the campaign. Around 3,000 such postcards have been sent out so far, mainly to homes in Sydney and Brisbane.
Giann Rooney said it’s wasn’t hard to write about her favourite things on the Gold Coast. “We are a tourism town, we miss having all of our southerners up here, particularly at school holiday time at the moment. There are so many people that need all of our people coming back and visiting us. So we wrote a few post cards saying we can’t wait to have you back up here to play again on the Gold Coast.”
“The weather is beautiful, winter is the best time of year, we can’t wait for you to come back and make some more family memories on the Gold Coast,” Rooney added.
