Preferred Hotels & Resorts has added four key Asian properties, including two as-yet-unopened hotels and its first Legend Collection properties in Bali and Shanghai.
The highly-anticipated Katamama in Bali (pictured top), which is being developed by the owners of the adjacent Potato Head Beach Club, will become a member of Preferred’s Legend Collection when it opens in spring 2016. The Seminyak property will offer 58 suites, a gym, pool and a Spanish restaurant.
Also joining the Legend Collection is the Wanda Reign on the Bund in Shanghai. Scheduled to open in autumn 2016, this property was designed by Foster & Partners and will become Wanda Hotels & Resorts new flagship hotel. It features 193 rooms and suites plus a French fine-dining restaurant overseen by Michelin-starred chef Marc Meneau.
These new hotels join klapsons The River Residences Bangkok, which offers 77 serviced apartments overlooking the Chao Praya River. It becomes only the third Preferred Serviced Residences property in Southeast Asia.
And finally The WEIL Ipoh, Malaysia, has joined Preferred Lifestyle Collection. Adjoining the Ipoh Parade Shopping Centre, the hotel offers 313 modern rooms, six F&B venues and a rooftop infinity pool and bar.
“The addition of these four new hotels to our Asia Pacific portfolio is a great result for Preferred Hotels & Resorts as the year draws to a close, in particular the two Legend collection hotels in key destinations within the region,” said Anthony Ross, Preferred’s executive vice president for Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa.
“We now have a flagship hotel in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu – all from the Legend Collection – and a total of 23 hotels in China to date. We look forward to growing our partnership with Wanda Hotels & Resorts, and other like-minded hotel independent hotel brands in the region, and provide them a strong support system so that they can compete in the international market.
“Southeast Asia continues to be one of our priorities for growth in 2016, in particular up-and-coming destinations like Vietnam, Myanmar, as well as emerging business hubs like Ipoh and secondary cities in Indonesia,” Ross added.
Preferred now represents more than 650 hotels, resorts and residences across 85 countries through its five collections.
