Preferred Hotel Group has relaunched its iPrefer loyalty programme under a new points-based system.

Billed as a “first of its kind for a global collection of independent hotels”, the programme now rewards travellers with points on qualifying hotel stays that can be exchanged for reward certificates, redeemable for stays at Preferred properties. Members will also receive benefits such as complimentary internet access and late check-out.

“iPrefer extends the undeniable value of frequent stay programmes to independent hotels worldwide, allowing them to better compete with hard brands by incentivising travellers with points, status, and a flexible redemption process,” said Lindsey Ueberroth, president of Preferred Hotel Group.

iPrefer members will receive one point for every US$1 spent on net room reservations at participating hotels booked via the iPrefer.com website, Preferred’s distribution channels, GDS and direct with hotels. There are three membership tiers – silver, gold and platinum – and members will be supported by a 24-hour helpdesk.

iPrefer was originally launched in 2006 and now has more than 1.3 million members.
