Carnival subsidiary Princess Cruises has announced that it will increase its UK sales team as the line looks to bolster its British presence.
At a ceremony in Italy, where the operator revealed its two new ships, Princess confirmed that the recently appointed head of sales, Alex White, would head a team of 12.
The decision comes shortly after Princess announced it would increase its agent commissions to 10%.
The move will mean that Complete Cruise Solutions will have a sales team solely dedicated to Cunard and P&O while Princess will be sold separately.
Speaking to Cruise News, Giles Hawke sales and customer services director for Carnival UK said: “The Complete Cruise Solutions brand name, as a sales team, stops in April. There will still be www.completecruisesolution.com as an area for agents to train, book and download marketing material, which will feature all three brands but the sales teams will only sell P&O Cruises and Cunard.”
Princess Cruises is due to launch two new ships over the next 15-months: the Royal Princess in June 2013 and Regal Princess 12 months later.
The sister ships will both have a passenger capacity of 3,600, with the Royal Princess due to named in Southampton before spending the summer operating 12-day itineraries between Barcelona and Venice.
At the ceremony executives confirmed that the move to hold the naming ceremony in Southampton – the UK home of Carnival – was designed to bring a North American product to the UK market.
