Proposals on changes to the Package Travel Directive (PTD) could be announced later this year, ABTA has revealed.
The association said the European Commission has been in discussions over the revised directive since 2009, with plans to encourage more package sales; remove confusion over holiday sales in Europe and ensure the same protection for holidaymakers across Europe.
Proposals could be published late this year or early 2013, with ABTA making the case for airlines to be included in holiday sales and ensure fair, clear protection.
It also voiced concerns over plans for a ‘right to withdrawal’ clause after a customer buys a holiday.
