QAIA witnesses more than 600,000 in July 2012

Airport International Group (AIG) announced its July traffic results for passenger and aircraft movements (ACMs) at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA). Total Passenger traffic reached 654,466 passengers, representing a 4.2% increase over July 2011. ACMs numbered 6,459 in total — a 6.3% increase compared to July 2011.
In terms of year-to-date passenger traffic, more than three and a half million passengers have travelled through QAIA, reaching 3,677,965 from January 2012 to the end of July, which translates to a remarkable 18.4% increase over the same seven-month period in 2011. The year-to-date ACMs at the conclusion of July were recorded at 39,271, a 7.7% increase over the same period in 2011.
This new terminal will significantly increase the airport capacity to 9 million passengers annually, nearly tripling the current airport capacity of 3.5 million passengers annually. Future expansions will allow the airport to reach a capacity of 12 million passengers a year.
