Qantas and Solomon Airlines have signed a new codeshare agreement for flights between Australia and Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.
From 15 November 2015, Qantas passengers will be able travel on Solomon Airlines’ five weekly services from Brisbane and Sydney to Honiara, all of which are operated using the South Pacific carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft.
“We’re pleased to offer our customers the added benefits of a codeshare on five services per week from Australia to Honiara, a destination becoming more popular with both business and leisure travellers alike, with onward connections available to some of the region’s more untouched islands,” said Qantas’ executive manager for international sales, Stephen Thompson.
“The new codeshare builds on our broader partnership strategy which sees us work closely with other international carriers to increase our presence in growing markets and deliver more for our customers.”
Solomon Airlines’ CEO, Captain Ron Sumsum, added that the arrangement would allow Honiara to be “promoted to more Australians than ever before”.
Solomon Airlines operates four weekly flights between Brisbane and Honiara and one weekly flight to Sydney.
