Following the recent launch of its new flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport, Qatar Airways has further boosted its Japanese connections with the expansion of its codeshare deal with JAL.
From 12 July 2014, Qatar Airways will codeshare with its oneworld partner on five more domestic routes in Japan, including services from Haneda to Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Okinawa and Nagoya.
Qatar Airways already partners with JAL on six domestic routes from Tokyo Narita and Osaka.
“Alliances and codeshares alike are playing an increasingly important role in the airline industry today – and that will continue long into the future,” said Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
“Becoming a member of oneworld last October was one of the most significant landmarks in Qatar Airways’ history. It has strengthened our competitive offering and the advent of these new code share routes with Japan Airlines will expand travel options even further within our global alliance network.”
Qatar Airways launched flights to Haneda earlier this month, and will now serve the route daily using its 254-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
