Qatar Airways has unveiled a series of measures designed to enhance its connectivity in the Far East.
This summer, the airline will increase the number of flights it operates to Indonesia, with the addition of more services to both Jakarta and Bali. And it will also add more codeshare services with two of its regional partners; Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines.
From 5 July 2015, Qatar Airways will offer three more weekly flights (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays) to Jakarta, in addition to its existing 18 weekly flights. This means that Qatar Airways will offer a total of three daily flights to the Indonesian capital.
And then from 16 July, the airline will increase its Bali service to twice daily, with departures from Doha every day at 0225 and 0800.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has also confirmed that it will start codesharing on 24 of JAL’s domestic routes, allowing passengers from Doha the opportunity to connect to more parts of Japan. New destinations made available by the partnership include Kagoshima, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Oita, Hakodate and Asahikawa.
Qatar Airways currently operates direct services to Osaka and Tokyo’s two airports, Haneda and Narita.
And finally, following the launch of its codeshare agreement with Cathay Pacific last year, the two airlines will now expand the partnership to cover Qatar Airways’ routes from Doha to Muscat and Sao Paulo. This will enable passengers to fly between these two cities and Hong Kong, via Doha.
The two codeshare partnerships have been enabled by Qatar Airways’ membership of the oneworld alliance.
“Becoming a member of oneworld in October 2013 was a significant landmark in Qatar Airways relatively young history, enabling us to strengthen our competitive offering,” said Qatar Airways’ group CEO, Akbar Al Baker. “The joining of this alliance, and the addition of these new codeshares, enables our passengers to avail of additional travel options, with ease, across routes that encompass the entire globe.”
Qatar Airways joined oneworld in October 2013 and launched its first flights to Bali in summer 2014.
